Spending time with the boys!

Today I felt as though I needed a little mom time with the boys. So, we headed to the Children's Museum. We just purchased a membership for this year. They love running around like wild animals (literally.) Noah dressed up as a Coyote and scared the little girls that were playing. Caed had fun sitting in the boat fishing.

I was reading in one of my favorite "mom" books called, A Mother's Heart. The author discusses what quality time really means to a child. I feel as though quality time usually involves just "being there" for my kids. I don't have to go do something big with my boys to make them feel loved - although they enjoy that too. Quality time is being there if they fall down and need a hug or being available just to listen to them.

Life is so simple in a child's mind. I wish I could be more like them sometimes.

Being a Mom...

Lately I've been having a hard time "just" being a mom. It is a hard job! I adore Noah and Caed but I would be lying if I said I loved being a mom ALL the time and it was the BEST thing ever. I often feel as though I'm just trying to get through parenting one day at a time. Then I remember Jess and Joel in Nebraska who lost Cora this year and our friends Shaun and Courtney who were a week over due to find out the baby had no heart beat and had to be induced. This puts life into perspective for me. God has blessed me with two wonderful boys and I need to take time to appreciate them daily. I can't imagine my life without them and how much I learn about myself as I teach them, discipline them and love them through life.

My heart goes out to Jess and Joel, Shaun and Courtney. These couples have an amazing relationship with Jesus. You can see their foundation by they way they have walked through these trials in their lives. They are a testimony to how having a personal relationship with Christ can impact your life!

The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears them; he delivers them from all their troubles. The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.

Psalm 34:17-18

Many are the plans in a man's heart,
but it is the Lord's purpose that prevails.

Proverbs 19:21

To man belong the plans of the heart,
but from the Lord comes the reply of the tongue...

In his heart a man plans his course,
but the Lord determines his steps.

Proverbs 16:1,9

Trust in the LORD with all your heart
and lean not on your own understanding;

in all your ways acknowledge him,
and he will make your paths straight.

Proverbs 3:5-6
