Blueberry Park

Last week I headed to Blueberry Park in south Tacoma, with a friend and her kiddos. We try to make it to the field twice during the summer time. I love this park because it is a whole lot of green in the middle of a very developed neighborhood. There are 20 acres of fields and wetlands. Click here for the history on Blueberry Park. My boys get so excited to run through the rows and rows of blueberry bushes.

The boys were excited for our little adventure and to cross out another item on our summer to do list. We were there a total of 30 minutes when Noah was stunk twice by a yellow jacket and our trip went from fun to trauma in a matter of moments. Mental note: if going to Blueberry Park dress your children in long pants, long sleeve shirts, socks and running shoes. Lesson learned! Thanks to my friend Dina for carrying Noah back to our car (I had Pearce strapped on me in the Ergo) and giving us some of her blueberries. If you want to check out Blueberry Park I would recommend going toward the end of August or beginning of September. The bushes are loaded with green blueberries right now but in a few more weeks they will be loaded with yummy bright blue berries.
