Fun California Design

In honor of being in California here are some fun California design and decor ideas...
Living Room with striped arm chairs and mirror over white brick fireplace
Kitchen with green painted floors, stainless steel appliances and orange wood back door.Compromise with the kids by creating an upscale bunkroom with the sophisticated colors and prints you love combined with the fun beds they’ll love. This modern update on the classic bunk bed style is more sculptural, yet sturdy and compact with plenty of room for sleepovers.
This teeny bedroom leaves just enough room for the bed and bench, but it seems so much larger thanks to its diverse mix of patterns and prints. You can put stripes with spots—and add much-needed dimension—as long as you simplify your palette.
Without the pops of cobalt blue, this smart seating area’s neutral tones would feel a little washed out. Fun patterned pillows with drapery and flowers to match don’t take the focus off the main event, the wraparound water view from the windows.

Noah is 6

It is crazy how fast life is flying by. Noah is 6 today. He is sweet, sensitive, full of life, artistic (loves to draw), loves surprises and adventure, and has lots of questions about Jesus (which is awesome). You are loved Mr. Noah.

Meal Plans

Recently I posted about E-mealz plans online. Well, I have tried it for the last 3 months and I am not happy with it. The recipes given include too many frozen, canned and processed foods. This morning I came across this website, The Fresh 20, offering the same idea but using only fresh ingredients. No processed foods, no preservatives, and no frozen foods. Much, much better! If you are busy and rarely have time to cook a meal, this plan is perfect for you. I believe that my job as a mom is to feed my family healthy meals and steward our grocery bill.

No Go

I was up at my parents house for a couple days and thought I would introduce a new food to Pearce. Squash is a no go for Pearce.
It's ok Pearce, mommy doesn't like squash either.

First Day of Summer

Noah is out of school so we headed to my parents house for a couple of days. They had so much fun playing at the park, hanging out with grandpa and grandma, and running through the sprinkler.
Noah being a pirate and Caed showing me his scrape.
First injury of the summer.

I have no idea what Caed was doing - it's just sooooo Caed.
Looking for bugs. This is before they decided to pee into the woods.

Getting warm in the sun after running through the sprinkler.

Summer To Do List

I was checking out other blogs today and found this....

What a great idea! A list of fun things to do with your kids in a place where the kids can read it and cross it off. I may need to do this with my chalkboard wall in the kitchen. There are some great ideas on this list as well. Check out Whatever... to read more about this momma's fun ideas.

I am so thankful to live in a city that has an amazing parks and recreation program, great farmer's markets, and so much more. There are fun things to do left and right in Ttown.

Bring the Outside In

I love flowers. I believe that freshly cut flowers bring life to a home. This morning I went into my yard and cut a few to enjoy for the week.

I love spring!

Sweet Birds

I saw this adorable handmade mobile awhile back and fell in love.
Amy Butler Bird Mobile - limited availabilityBird Mobile
So sweet! Here is the link for the pattern so you can give it a whirl.
Here is my first little bird I have created. I plan to make 3 more for Pearce's room.
They are fun to make but a little time consuming when it comes to stuffing them. Noah and Caed just wanted to play with it because it was so small and real life like. I will post the final project when I finish.

I Love Dwell

I had to pop into Dwell to pick up a little something for my wonderful neighbor and friend, Tara. Dwell continues to blow me away with their fun gift items, fabrics, candles, dishes, and furniture. So fun! If you haven't checked out Dwell in Ttown it is located at 2716 North 21st Street.
Love, love, love this store. It is my go-to for sweet little gifts. My apologies for the small pics. I forgot my camera and I probably forgot my camera because I was so excited to be able to escape for an hour that I ran out the door as fast as I could! These pics were taken with my handy dandy cell phone. Enjoy your Friday!

Picking Gray

Gray is a hard color to choose. It can be too green, too blue, too taupe, or too brown. It is not an easy task. So, I decided to choose a few of my favorite's and hang them in our entry to see what color works best. It is a good idea to test paint colors in different areas of the room to be painted so you can really imagine what it will look like when the sun shines in.
I'm not convinced of any of these grey tones. I plan to head to Home Depot and pick up a few more options before diving into the paint bucket once again.

Moving On Up

Pearce has graduated from the Baby Bjorn to the Ergo. He loves the Ergo and being able to get all snuggly. He is so stinkin' sweet!
Do you like my pink silky slippers?

The boys have blackout curtains in their room - which I love! When I put up their curtains I hung them on an old curtain rod that I had around the house. Well, they drive me crazy. The rod always falls down and the screws that I have in the wall do not hold. So, I purchased a new curtain rod that goes with the room and had my handsome hubby hang it up. I attempted to do the job but plaster walls and I do not get along very well.
You see what happens - ANNOYING!
The new rod installed - I still need to fill some holes.
Much, much better. A sturdy curtain rod for my two wild boys.
